January 10: Birthday of Charles Ingalls (1836) and Mary Ingalls (1865)

Prayer Idea

Pray for relationships between fathers and daughters.

History Note

Charles Phillip Ingalls was born on January 10, 1836, near Cuba, New York. His family eventually settled in Wisconsin, where he met and married Caroline Lake Quiner.

Charles and Caroline built a cabin near Pepin, Wisconsin, in 1863. Their first child, Mary Amelia Ingalls, was born there on January 10, 1865.

Mary’s younger sister Laura grew up to write stories about her family’s experiences in Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
