February 5: National Weatherperson’s Day

Prayer Idea

Pray for people who study the weather and make forecasts to serve and protect others.

History Note

John Jeffries was born on February 5, 1744. He began recording daily weather observations in Boston in 1774. He collected weather observations from a hot air balloon in 1784 (and made the first successful balloon flight across the English channel).

National Weatherperson’s Day is observed on February 5. It is a day to recognize the people who provide Americans with weather forecasts and warning services.
